Pair of armrests (adjustable and retractable): The armrests, covered with foam, can be swivelled and retracted to facilitate transfers in the Hippocampe wheelchair.

Adjustable headrest: The headrest is covered with comfortable foam and adapts to the user’s position. It is adjustable forwards, backwards and in height.

Dual harness: Made of comfortable and water-resistant elastic neoprene, the 4-point dual harness facilitates the user’s support and positioning.

Waist belt: Wide and comfortable, the waist belt keeps the user in a secure position at the end bottom of the seat. A comfort foam protects the user from contact with the buckle.

20 inch wheel covers: The 20” wheel covers protect the user’s hand from contact with the wheels.

Parking brakes: Pivoting and stainless steel, the parking brakes allow the wheelchair to be immobilised on small slopes or to facilitate transfers.

Confortable Plus Duo: The waterproof Stabilo neoprene positioning cushion can be shaped with a vacuum and provides additional support to the user by perfectly adapting to the body’s shape and needs.

Height adjustable and reclining backrest: The height adjustable and reclining backrest makes it easy to vary the total height of the backrest according to the user’s needs.

Armrest nets: The armrest nets fit between the seat and armrests to protect the user’s hands from the wheel spokes.

Footrest net: The footrest net fits between the seat and the footrest to protect the user’s feet.

Thermal cover: Comfortable and resistant, the thermal cover protects the user from cold and rain. Available in two sizes: M and L.

Rain canopy and legs protection: Suitable for rain, sun and wind, the rain canopy is made of anti-UV materials. Thanks to its wide, transparent windows, the user can enjoy a panoramic view.

Umbrella: The asymmetrical umbrella is wind resistant and protects from rain and sunrays.

Ballon wheels: Perfect for the beach, these ballon wheels , designed for sand, replace the dual wheels and makes it easier to push the wheelchair on fine sand.

Handlebar: The handlebar optimises the pusher’s hand positioning and facilitates off-road walks.

Transport bag: Useful when travelling, the transport wheelchair travel bag protects the Hippocampe wheelchair during car or plane trips.

Backrest bag: The backrest bag, fitted on the back of the seat, allows to carry your personal belongings during your leisure activities and walks.

Bag for balloon wheels: Ballon wheels, which facilitate walks on dry sand, can be tricky to carry. With the bag for ballon wheels and its side handles, the pair of wheels can even be carried with one hand.

All-terrain:  Since 2002, the Hippocampe all-terrain beach wheelchair offers disabled people access to difficult or even impossible terrain in city wheelchairs: beach, swimming, hiking trails, snow-covered trails.

 Comfortable:  The seat is made of a thick and comfortable hydrophobic foam, which does not absorb water and dries quickly. Its comfortable blue or pink sheathed tubes do not heat up in the sun.

Features

Made in France, the Hippocampe all-terrain beach wheelchair is made of stainless materials.
The chassis tubes are made of aluminum treated for seawater and covered with a comfort color coating which prevents burns due to exposure to the sun and cold in winter.
The wheel axles and semi-axles are made of stainless steel. The twin wheels are without ball bearings avoiding seizure by oxidation, the outer rim covered with a Grip serves as a handrail for the user.
Its seat (property of Vipamat) is composed of a hydrophobic foam of thickness 3 cm which allows it to be comfortable and to dry quickly thus avoiding the problems of the skin.
The fabric covering the seat is treated against fire as required by CERAH approval for social security coverage.
The removable push bar is easily removed and placed thanks to a system of clips and allows the companions to help the user in his movements.
